Cotton Seed Meal

Cottonseed meal is a by-product of cotton seed oil extraction process. Cotton seeds are ginned and crushed to extract oil from the seeds which leave a meal. This meal can be used further for animal feed and in organic fertilizers. As this meal contains a compound known as gossypol, it is ideal for feeding only adult ruminants.

Gossypol is the compound that can be found in cotton seed oil cake, which limits its use as a meal to only adult ruminants.
