Cottonseed meal is a by-product of cotton seed oil extraction process. Cotton seeds are ginned and crushed to extract oil from the seeds which leave a meal. This meal can be used further for animal feed and in organic fertilizers. As this meal contains a compound known as gossypol, it is ideal for feeding only adult ruminants.

This seed oil cake, also called cotton seed meal is a byproduct that remains after ginning of cotton, crushing of seeds and extracting of oil.
